Metropolitan Museum of Art hosts dual Lee Krasner and Jackson Pollock exhibition
The Metropolitan Museum of Art is hosting ‘Krasner and Pollock: Past Continuous’, a major exhibition exploring the professional and personal relationship between Abstract Expressionist artists Lee Krasner and Jackson Pollock. The show features over 120 paintings, works on paper, and ephemera, including loans from more than 80 institutions worldwide.
Curators David Breslin and Brinda Kumar aim to present the artists' full careers side-by-side, rather than focusing solely on their time together. The exhibition addresses the gender politics of the era, noting how Krasner often worked in Pollock’s shadow despite her own significant talent and long-term productivity. While Pollock experienced a meteoric rise, Krasner continued to produce work for two decades following his death in 1956.
