Metropolitan Museum of Art hosts Krasner and Pollock exhibition

The Metropolitan Museum of Art has launched a major exhibition titled ‘Krasner and Pollock: Past Continuous,’ featuring more than 120 works by Abstract Expressionist artists Lee Krasner and Jackson Pollock. The show aims to present both artists as equals and key innovators of the movement, rather than positioning Krasner solely in the shadow of her husband, Pollock.

The exhibition traces their parallel lives and converging artistic visions, including the years before they met, their marriage, and Krasner’s career following Pollock’s death. It highlights Pollock’s iconic ‘drip’ technique alongside Krasner’s diverse explorations of abstraction, color, and nature. Notably, the collection includes Krasner’s collages, such as the 1955 work ‘Bald Eagle,’ which utilized discarded elements from Pollock’s paintings to create new compositions.
