Metropolitan Museum of Art hosts major Lee Krasner and Jackson Pollock exhibition
The Metropolitan Museum of Art has launched a major joint exhibition titled ‘Krasner and Pollock: Past Continuous,’ exploring the creative lives and intertwined careers of the Abstract Expressionist couple. The exhibition, which runs until January 31, 2027, features more than 120 works, including paintings, works on paper, and archival materials.
Curated by David Breslin and Brinda Kumar, the show marks the first large-scale presentation of either artist in New York in over 20 years. The exhibition examines their relationship, noting how Krasner’s established connections in the New York avant-garde helped introduce Pollock to influential critics and gallerists.
The collection includes loans from over 80 institutions, such as the Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney Museum, the Tate, the Centre Pompidou, and the Peggy Guggenheim Collection. The exhibition's structure follows their lives from their meeting in the early 1940s through their time in Springs, Long Island, and concludes with Krasner’s work following Pollock’s death in 1956.
