Metropolitan Museum of Art security guard interrupts marriage proposal

A marriage proposal at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City was interrupted by a security guard, according to viral footage shared on Instagram. The incident occurred near the museum’s stained-glass section while a couple was posing for photos.

The woman involved, identified as Lina, stated that as her partner dropped to one knee to propose, the guard approached and ordered the man to “stand up.” Lina claimed the guard was “rude and condescending” and cited a non-existent rule stating that engagements are forbidden within the museum. She also noted that the guard instructed a friend to stop filming the encounter.

Following the disruption, the couple left the museum to visit a Shake Shack to calm down. The video has drawn criticism from social media users who argued that the guard should have exercised more discretion and addressed any potential policy issues privately after the moment had passed.
