Metropolitan Nektarios of Kerkyra warns of historic memory distortion

On 29 July, Metropolitan Nektarios of Kerkyra, Paxos and the Diapontian Islands gave a landmark interview to the newspaper Orthodox Truth. He said, “I fear the alteration of historical memory,” and spoke openly about the major challenges facing the Orthodox Church today. The interview addressed the Church’s role in contemporary Greek society, when silence should be chosen as a responsible act, and clarified the boundaries between ecclesiastical discourse and ideological conflict. Nektarios also highlighted the extensive social work of the Metropolis of Kerkyra, including its charitable institutions, youth camps, and contributions to the diaspora.

The interview is positioned as a reference point for public church dialogue in Greece.
