Metropolitan Nektarios visits Kythira for religious feast

Metropolitan Nektarios of Corfu, Paxos, and the Diapontian Islands visited the island of Kythira on September 23 and 24, 2026, at the invitation of Metropolitan Serafeim of Kythira and Antikythira.

The visit was part of the religious festivities for the feast day of the Holy Monastery of Panagia Myrtidiotissa. Metropolitan Nektarios participated in the Hierarchical Vespers on Wednesday and presided over the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy on Thursday, September 24.

During his sermon, Metropolitan Nektarios referenced the biblical account of Moses and the burning bush, emphasizing the sanctity of the location. The celebrations drew numerous faithful and local representatives from various parts of Greece to honor the Virgin Mary and venerate the miraculous icon of Panagia Myrtidiotissa.
