Metropolitan Police dismisses officer Timothy Robson for dead‑body photo

Police Constable Timothy Robson of the Metropolitan Police Service took a photograph of a deceased person with his personal mobile phone during a sudden‑death incident on 10 September 2025. He later offered the image to several colleagues, an action the force said had no legitimate policing purpose.

A misconduct hearing found Robson breached standards of professional behaviour, including discreditable conduct and lack of respect. Superintendent Jai Singh, of the North East Area Command, said Robson’s actions were abhorrent and apologized to the victim’s family. The officer was dismissed without notice and placed on the College of Policing’s barred list, preventing future employment in policing‑related roles.
