Metropolitan Police officers arrested over Budapest holiday allegations
Two serving officers from the Metropolitan Police Service's Central North Command Unit have been arrested following allegations of violence and sexual assault during a group trip to Budapest.
A group of 15 officers from the same unit had rented a large house via Airbnb for a holiday. Following an evening involving significant alcohol consumption, a female colleague filed formal complaints against two male colleagues.
One officer was arrested on suspicion of assault after the complainant alleged he forcibly grabbed her by the arm and moved her from one room to another. A second officer was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault. Both individuals have been released under investigation and have been suspended from duty pending the outcome of the inquiry by the Directorate of Professional Standards.
