Metropolitan Serapion ordains new priest in Igoumenitsa

Metropolitan Serapion of Paramythia presided over the ordination of Deacon Panagiotis to the priesthood at the Evangelismos Theotokou Church in Igoumenitsa on August 16, 2026. Following the ordination, Panagiotis was appointed as the steward and parish priest of the church.

During the ceremony, Metropolitan Serapion emphasized the importance of service and humility in the clergy. He noted that many seek to lead or teach, but few seek to serve others as Christ did. He encouraged the new priest to prioritize the will of God over personal desires and to find strength through prayer, stating that prayer provides the spiritual guidance necessary to make correct decisions and serve the people effectively.
