Metropolitano de Techo Stadium undergoes specialized grass maintenance
The District Institute of Recreation and Sports (IDRD) has initiated specialized maintenance on the grass at the Metropolitano de Techo Stadium in Bogotá's Kennedy locality. The intervention aims to restore playing conditions following technical inspections that identified "cushioning" in certain areas, a condition resulting from the accumulation of organic material beneath the turf surface.
The stadium features a hybrid grass surface that was installed as part of the preparations for the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup 2024. According to the IDRD, specialized maintenance of this nature should ideally be performed every six months to ensure high-quality sporting conditions. The most recent specialized intervention prior to this action had taken place in June 2024.
