Metrovalencia tram derails in Valencia, suspending Line 4 service
A tram on Metrovalencia's Line 4 derailed on Sunday morning at the Pont de Fusta station in Valencia, Spain. The incident caused a suspension of service between the Pont de Fusta and Empalme stations.
According to Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat (FGV), the tram was carrying passengers at the time of the accident, but no injuries were reported. The damage to the vehicle was described as ‘leves’ (minor) and was limited to the exterior of the convoy. Maintenance technicians were dispatched to the site to re-rail the unit and inspect the infrastructure.
The service disruption occurred during a period of already limited mobility due to a half marathon being held in the city, which had previously necessitated service cuts between the Doctor Lluch and Pont de Fusta stops. FGV expected to restore normal operations later that morning once the damaged unit was removed.
