Metrópoles Game Festival celebrates gaming culture in Brasília

The Metrópoles Game Festival is taking place at the Arena Mané Garrincha in Brasília, featuring a wide range of electronic and analog gaming activities. Organized by Grupo Metrópoles with support from the Secretariat of Science, Technology, and Innovation of the Federal District, the event runs from August 21 to August 23.

The festival includes competitions for 28 different games across PC, consoles, and mobile devices, with over 500 competitors vying for R$ 78,000 in prizes. Featured titles include League of Legends, Dota 2, Mortal Kombat 1, and Gran Turismo 7. Beyond esports, the event offers a Video Game Museum, collectible showcases, RPG sessions, and specialized spaces for neurodivergent individuals.

A highlight of the event was the ‘LowCostPlay’ contest, where participants used everyday materials like cardboard and trash bags to create costumes. Sophia Machado won the competition by portraying the character Perona from the anime One Piece using a costume made entirely of trash bags.
