Metso wins €16 million thickener modernisation order in Chile

Metso has secured a €16 million order to modernise three thickeners at a customer site in Chile. This contract represents one of the largest service orders the company has received for thickener modernisation.

The project involves retrofitting three high-rate thickeners from the Metso Plus portfolio. The upgrade includes installing two new SCD 4000 drives, new mechanisms, and a redesigned high-performing feed system. These enhancements are intended to allow the equipment to handle higher throughput and operational demands while increasing underflow density.

A primary objective of the modernisation is to improve water recovery rates, supporting more sustainable mining operations and assisting the customer with water stewardship and productivity goals. The order has been recorded in Metso’s Minerals segment third-quarter orders for 2026.
