Mettmach knife attack: Woman rescued by passing motorist
A 30-year-old Polish woman is recovering after being seriously injured in a knife attack in Mettmach, located in the Ried im Innkreis district. The victim was attacked by her former partner, identified as a 37-year-old Romanian national.
During the incident, a passing motorist, Thomas Sperl, intervened to assist the victim. Sperl, a stonemason and firefighter, discovered the injured woman by the roadside and placed her in his vehicle for safety. He subsequently engaged in a physical struggle with the assailant to prevent further harm.
The victim is no longer in life-threatening condition and is expected to be questioned by police regarding the circumstances of the attack. The suspect was apprehended following the incident.
