Mettmann citizens petition against Kirchendelle development

In Mettmann, Germany, a citizens' initiative has collected 1,381 signatures for an online petition to protect the ‘Kirchendelle’ area. The group is opposing a land-use plan that would allow for a supermarket, new roads, and residential construction in the location.

Representatives of the initiative presented the signature lists to Mayor André Bär, noting that the number of supporters nearly doubled the required quorum of 680. Mayor Bär stated he would inform the council of the handover and declared his intention to vote against the development of the Kirchendelle.
