Mettmann (NRW) hit-and-run crashes involving teens spark police response

In the Mettmann district of North Rhine‑Westphalia, several hit‑and‑run incidents were reported in early July 2026. On July 8, a 14‑year‑old girl was struck by an e‑scooter near the Erkrath Stadthalle stop and injured after the rider fled the scene. The same day, a parked Audi in Langenfeld‑Richrath sustained damage, and on July 9 a parked Hyundai Tucson was hit, with a suspect seen leaving on a mountain bike.

A separate event unfolded on July 11 when police pursued a stolen vehicle on the A46 near Erkrath. The chase caused multiple accidents before the car stopped in Haan, where the three teenage occupants (ages 16‑17) were apprehended. Two of the youths, a Syrian and a Moroccan, were injured and taken to hospital.
