Meulebeke hosts second HG Cross cyclocross event
The second round of the HG Cross season, the Berencross, is scheduled to take place this Saturday at the Sport- en Recreatiecentrum Ter Borcht in Meulebeke, Belgium. The course has undergone modifications, including the removal of a large bridge and a change in direction, though it retains challenging elements such as sand pits, hills, and stairs.
In the women’s category, world champion Lucinda Brand is a top favorite following her victory in the season opener in Dendermonde. Other notable competitors include European champion Inge van der Heijden and several Dutch riders. In the men’s category, Michael Vanthourenhout seeks a perfect season score after winning in Dendermonde, facing challengers such as Laurens Sweeck.
In addition to elite races, the event will feature junior and newcomer categories, as well as a new recreational race titled ‘HG Cross for fun’ for amateur cyclists.
