Mevlid Kandili observed according to Hijri calendar

Mevlid Kandili, marking the birth of the Prophet Muhammad, is observed on the 12th night of the Hijri month of Rabi' al-awwal. Because Islamic religious observances follow the lunar Hijri calendar rather than the solar Gregorian calendar, the date of Mevlid Kandili shifts annually in the Gregorian system.

The Hijri calendar consists of approximately 354 days, creating an 11-day difference compared to the 365-day Gregorian calendar. This discrepancy causes the observance to occur roughly 11 days earlier each year, completing a full cycle through all seasons and months over a 33-year period. While the Prophet's birth is historically associated with April 20 in the Gregorian calendar, religious practice remains strictly tied to the Hijri lunar cycles.
