MEXC names Robert MacDonald chief compliance officer to steer global regulatory agenda

MEXC, the zero‑fee digital‑asset exchange, announced the appointment of Robert MacDonald as its chief compliance officer. MacDonald brings more than 20 years of experience in finance and crypto, previously serving as chief legal & compliance officer at Bybit and holding senior roles at Standard Chartered and Binance. His mandate covers three pillars: cross‑jurisdictional governance, data‑driven risk management and strategic regulatory engagement with global authorities.

In a separate communication, CEO Vugar Usi reflected on his first 100 days, highlighting the shift of retail investors toward broader market opportunities such as IPOs, gold and oil. MEXC’s SPACEX launchpad attracted over 74,000 users who contributed $173 million in two subscription rounds, with one pool oversubscribed 30‑fold. Futures trading volume on the platform reached 800 million USDT in a single day. The exchange continues to promote its zero‑fee model, which it says has saved top traders around $1.1 million in fees.

Both announcements underscore MEXC’s strategy of expanding product offerings while reinforcing compliance and user trust as it seeks licensing and regulatory approval in key markets.
