MEXC stock futures volume surges in Asia amid expansion into traditional assets

MEXC has seen a massive surge in stock futures trading volume across Asia, with average daily volume increasing by 3,308% in the second quarter. This growth is driven by crypto users increasingly utilizing centralized exchanges to trade traditional assets such as equities and gold. Southeast Asia experienced the most significant jump, with volume climbing 6,648%, while East Asia saw a 1,957% increase.

As these exchanges expand into traditional finance products, including forex and commodities, concerns regarding retail risk have emerged. MEXC CEO Vugar Usi expressed difficulty in justifying extreme leverage levels, such as 500x, for retail traders. While the exchange has offered high leverage on certain products, including up to 1,000x on precious metals perpetuals, Usi noted that the industry lacks a common standard for retail leverage. The expansion of product offerings—ranging from tokenized securities to real shares—presents new challenges regarding liquidation rules and regulatory protections within a single user interface.
