MEXC to wind down services in the Netherlands

Cryptocurrency exchange MEXC has announced it will wind down services for users linked to the Netherlands. The decision follows findings by the Dutch Authority for the Financial Markets (AFM) that the platform lacks the required crypto-service license under the European Union’s Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) framework.

The offboarding process will occur in four stages, with final deadlines for asset withdrawals and the completion of services scheduled between October 31 and November 16, 2026. Affected users have been instructed to close open positions, cancel orders, and settle outstanding liabilities before the specified dates.

This move is specific to the Netherlands and does not indicate a global shutdown of MEXC. However, the exchange has also recently discontinued services in Russia and Belarus, reflecting broader compliance adjustments to evolving international regulatory and sanctions frameworks.
