Mexicali authorities make 45 arrests in state agents’ homicide case

Mexicali, Baja California – Security officials announced 45 arrests linked to the killing of state law‑enforcement agents. The detentions include municipal police officers and are the result of multiple operations conducted by state and federal authorities.

Secretary of Public Safety Laureano Carillo said threats persist and investigations will continue in coordination with state and federal bodies. Prosecutor María Elena Andrade noted unusual incapacities among municipal agents across the state, particularly in Tecate, and raised the possibility of corruption involving the medical institution ISSSTECALI. Authorities are also in contact with the family of a teacher who was severely injured while at a food stall during a second attack in the Mexicali Valley.

The investigation remains ongoing as officials work to clarify the motives and any broader criminal networks behind the attacks.
