Mexicali memorial project for missing persons advances

A project to construct an anti-monument dedicated to missing persons is advancing in Mexicali, Mexico. The memorial is planned for an area near the city's nightlife district, colloquially known by collectives as the ‘Bermuda Triangle’ due to the high number of reported disappearances in that location.

The initiative is led by the Célula de Búsqueda, an organization founded by the parents of Kevin Moreno, who disappeared in the area in 2022. The group held a meeting to socialize the project and gather input from other families of missing persons to reach a consensus on the memorial's design and purpose.

The project is estimated to cost approximately two million pesos. Once completed, the site—which is being donated for this purpose—will be the responsibility of the state government for ongoing maintenance.
