Mexican activists address violence and digital barriers facing women
Activists and legislators in Mexico are highlighting the various forms of violence and systemic barriers faced by women. In Campeche, Nery del Carmen Moo Rodríguez, coordinator of the Red de Mujeres Indígenas y Afromexicanas de la Región Maya, noted that indigenous women face domestic, verbal, and digital violence. She emphasized that social media platforms are frequently used for discrimination rather than solidarity. Additionally, the increasing digitalization of government procedures creates obstacles for remote communities that struggle to meet technological requirements.
In Querétaro, Deputy Ginna Guzmán hosted a dialogue titled “Violencia contra las mujeres” to increase the visibility of daily violence against women. The event included participation from the Red Nacional de Mujeres Defensoras de la Paridad en Todo de la República to strengthen support networks and advocate for the recognition of women's experiences in the public agenda.
