Global aviation trends show varying passenger growth and connectivity shifts

Global aviation and tourism sectors show varied performance across several regions. In Spain, long-distance flight bookings grew by 50.7% this summer, with significant increases in travel to China and Brazil. Additionally, Spain received 67 million international passengers between January and July, a 5.2% increase compared to the previous year.

In Mexico, Puebla is expanding its connectivity through Volaris, adding new domestic and international routes to cities like Chicago, Los Angeles, and New York. The Puebla International Airport saw a 19.66% increase in passenger arrivals from January to July. Meanwhile, La Paz International Airport reported a record-breaking July with an 11% increase in traffic.

Other regional updates include Panama’s Tocumen International Airport, which saw a 15% year-on-year increase in passengers through July, totaling over 13.7 million. In Chile, the Santiago Airport handled over 2.2 million passengers in July, though year-to-date figures show a 2.5% decline due to global factors like aircraft delivery delays and rising fuel costs. In Colombia, the Santa Marta Transport Terminal reported moving 56,000 passengers during a recent holiday weekend.
