Mexican and Nicaraguan governments distribute food aid to thousands of families
In Tamaulipas, Mexico, the state’s DIF program delivered a second round of food baskets to 63,485 beneficiaries across the 43 municipalities, including families with disabilities, seniors, malnourished persons, educators and those living below the poverty line. The aid, funded by the state’s general budget and the Multi‑Purpose Assistance Fund, contains staple items such as corn flour, rice, beans, tuna, milk and vegetables, and is accompanied by nutrition education.
In Nicaragua’s Caribbean North region, the Ministry of the Family completed a second distribution of food packages for families participating in the Multiple Births Program in Puerto Cabezas, Waspam and Prinzapolka. The effort, timed with the Week of the Child, reached families of 216 twins and three sets of triplets, providing essential food supplies and recreational activities to support early childhood development.
