Mexican and Spanish pensioners to receive double payments in 2026

In Mexico, pensioners aged 65 and older who receive benefits from the Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social (IMSS) or the Instituto de Seguridad y Servicios Sociales para los Trabajadores del Estado (ISSSTE) will see a double deposit in July 2026. The extra amount comes from the Pensión Bienestar program, adding a fixed 6,400 pesos to the regular pension payment. IMSS payments start on 1 July and ISSSTE payments begin on 29 June, with the additional disbursement following the alphabetical schedule used by the Secretariat of Welfare.

In Spain, banks have confirmed that the summer “paga extra” for pensioners will be credited mainly on 25 June 2026, with some banks paying as early as 22 June. The extra payment doubles the usual monthly pension for June, with the average pension around €1,370.7 per month and higher for the general regime. This additional income provides a significant liquidity boost for millions of households.
