Mexican Army conducts earthquake rescue simulations

The Mexican Army has conducted military training exercises simulating earthquake rescue operations at the Santa Lucía Air Base near Mexico City. These drills are part of the 60th-anniversary commemorations of the DN-III-E Plan, the military’s established emergency response and disaster relief protocol.

The exercises included simulating the rescue of victims trapped under rubble, utilizing search and rescue dogs, performing victim extraction with stretchers, and practicing rope descents from a 25-meter tower. Military personnel emphasized that continuous training is essential to prepare for the diverse scenarios presented by natural disasters.

General Victor Hugo Lozano Garcia noted that the plan undergoes constant updates, incorporating lessons learned from previous events to strengthen personnel capabilities and civilian support methods. The upcoming celebrations for the 60-year milestone will include demonstrations of helicopters, aircraft, and trucks used in disaster response.
