Mexican Army sergeant killed in Morelos confrontation

A sergeant from the Mexican Army's 108th Infantry Battalion was killed following a confrontation with armed civilians in the community of Palo Grande, located in the municipality of Tlaquiltenango, Morelos.

The incident occurred around 00:25 hours on Saturday during preventive patrols. Armed individuals opened fire on military personnel near the Conafe secondary school, resulting in more than 50 gunshots being heard. The clash left two soldiers and one alleged aggressor wounded. The sergeant, identified as Daniel “N”, later died in the hospital due to the severity of his injuries.

Security forces deployed to the area and detained two suspects believed to be involved in the attack. Both individuals have been placed at the disposal of the Public Ministry for investigation. The 108th Infantry Battalion, known as “Los Lagartos,” operates in the southern region of Morelos to provide security in municipalities including Tlaquiltenango, Jojutla, Amacuzac, and Puente de Ixtla.
