Mexican athletes advance in boxing and athletics

Several Mexican athletes are making significant strides in their respective disciplines. In boxing, Gaby ‘La Bonita’ Sánchez is preparing to face veteran Mariana ‘La Barby’ Juárez on December 5 at the Hermanos Serdán stadium. Sánchez aims to use the match to demonstrate the talent present in Puebla, noting the challenge of increasing her weight class while maintaining agility.

Additionally, former world champion Yesenia ‘La Niña’ Gómez has successfully returned to the ring following a hiatus caused by injuries and personal matters. She secured a victory against Rubí Molina via judges' decision after an intense training camp in Jiquipilco.

In athletics, race walker Alegna González is focusing on securing an Olympic medal at the Los Angeles 2028 Games. Following strong performances in Tokyo and Paris, and a silver medal at the 2025 World Championships in Tokyo, González is targeting the Pan American Games and the World Championships in 2027 to qualify.
