Michoacán: Mexican forces detain nine CJNG members in precision operation

Mexican federal forces, including Special Forces from the Army and the National Guard, conducted a precision operation in the Michoacán municipalities of Tanhuato and Ecuandureo. The operation targeted a cell of the Cártel Jalisco Nueva Generación (CJNG) and resulted in the detention of nine individuals.

Among those captured are Marisol “N” and Lourdes “N”, identified as the daughter and partner of Heraclio Guerrero Martínez, known as “Tío Lako”. Authorities identify Guerrero Martínez as a regional leader for the CJNG in Michoacán and Jalisco, and link him to previous attacks against the National Guard.

During the raids in Tinaja de Vargas and Colesio, security forces seized a significant arsenal, including one .50 caliber machine gun, four Minimi machine guns, nine long weapons, and one short weapon. Other items confiscated include two grenade launchers, eight improvised explosive devices, a drone, various drugs, and 64 vehicles, one of which was armored. The detainees were transported via Mexican Air Force helicopter to Mexico City to face the Attorney General's Office.
