Mexican authorities capture US prison fugitive and detain suspects in 2001 Jalisco homicide

Mexican police in Jalisco arrested a 49‑year‑old man who had escaped a federal prison in California nearly three decades ago. Identified as Micha "N", the fugitive was found in Tlajomulco de Zúñiga after a joint operation with U.S. Marshals, then transferred to the Instituto Nacional de Migración and flown to California to face pending rape and escape charges.

In a separate operation, prosecutors from Jalisco and Colima captured two men, Gabriel “N” and Miguel “N”, wanted for a 2001 homicide in Jilotlán de los Dolores. The suspects were located in the city of Colima, apprehended with the help of local authorities, and returned to Jalisco to face the murder investigation.

Both arrests highlight coordinated law‑enforcement efforts across Mexican states and, in the first case, cooperation with U.S. authorities.
