Mexican authorities disrupt cross‑border narcotics tunnel and seize stolen fuel

Mexico’s Federal Prosecutor’s Office (FGR) uncovered a 265‑metre narcotics tunnel linking Tijuana, Baja California, to San Diego, California. The tunnel, equipped with lighting, ventilation and a sliding electronic mechanism, was found during a raid on a property used for storing weapons, explosives and drugs. The discovery is described as a direct blow to drug‑trafficking logistics.

Separately, the Hidalgo State Public Security Secretariat, working with the National Defense Secretariat and the National Guard, used drone surveillance to locate a clandestine fuel‑storage site in the forested area of Coatzetzengo, Cuautepec. Agents recovered more than 4,100 liters of stolen hydrocarbon fuel in five containers and seized a van used to transport the product. Both operations highlight Mexico’s use of intelligence and technology to combat illicit trafficking.

These coordinated efforts demonstrate heightened enforcement against organized crime networks operating across Mexico and its border with the United States.
