Mexican authorities pursue extortion case in Oaxaca and child‑exploitation raid in Tabasco

In the state of Oaxaca, the State Attorney's Office secured an indictment against a man identified by the initials A.M.Z. for telephone extortion. Victims reported threatening calls, gunfire aimed at their property and demands for payments of 30,000 to 60,000 pesos. The suspect was arrested on 28 May 2026 and placed in preventive detention.

A separate investigation in Oaxaca’s Costa region examined a “gota a gota” loan‑fraud complaint by a victim identified as E.C. The probe alleges intimidation by a Colombian woman, Y.M.R.A., during an encounter in Puerto Escondido, and the case remains pending before the courts.

In Villahermosa, Tabasco, federal prosecutors from the FGR executed a raid on a premises in the Centro district. One person was detained and computers, mobile phones and USB drives were seized as evidence in a child‑exploitation corruption inquiry. The seized material will be examined by forensic experts while the investigation continues.
