Puebla reports significant reductions in feminicides and kidnappings

Authorities in Puebla, Mexico, have reported a significant decrease in high-impact crimes between January and July 2026 compared to the same period in 2025. Reported reductions include a 60% drop in feminicides, a 53.3% decrease in kidnappings, a 23% decline in intentional homicides, a 33.7% reduction in robberies against transporters, and a 16.5% decrease in vehicle theft.

State Attorney General Idamis Pastor Betancourt highlighted the impact of the Casas Carmen Serdán centers, established by Governor Alejandro Armenta Mier. These 25 centers have provided legal and psychological assistance to approximately 230,000 women. This coordination has led to the opening of 10,000 criminal investigation files and the implementation of 8,000 protective measures for victims of violence.

The political party Morena has expressed support for these security results, noting that the strategy aligns with national security efforts and focuses on intelligence, institutional coordination, and addressing the root causes of crime.
