Lázaro Cárdenas authorities seize thousands of counterfeit goods

Mexican authorities seized over 4,000 suspected counterfeit products during an inspection at the port of Lázaro Cárdenas, Michoacán. The operation, known as ‘Operación Limpieza’, was conducted at the L. C. Terminal Portuaria de Contenedores to combat violations of industrial property rights.

The seized items included 3,348 liquid containers labeled ‘Victoria’s Secret’, 720 backpacks featuring the ‘Alo’ brand, and 280 bags printed with the character ‘Kuromi’. Additionally, authorities suspended the circulation of 48 perfumes allegedly infringing on the ‘Paris Hilton’ and ‘Can Can Paris Hilton y Diseño’ trademarks for technical evaluation.

The multi-agency effort involved the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property (IMPI), the National Customs Agency of Mexico (ANAM), the Navy, the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), and the Attorney General's Office (FGR). The seizure comes amid increased pressure to strengthen maritime surveillance against smuggling and piracy in Mexican ports.
