Mexican authorities seize over 8,000 counterfeit products
The Mexican Institute of Industrial Property (IMPI), in coordination with the Mexico City Secretariat of Citizen Security and the Secretariat of the Navy, seized 8,254 counterfeit products during two operations known as ‘Operación Limpieza’. The raids targeted commercial establishments in the Miguel Hidalgo and Iztapalapa boroughs, specifically at China Mega Shop Tacuba and China Mega Shop Tezontle.
The seized goods, valued at approximately 728,935 pesos, include sportswear, toys, eyewear, backpacks, and stationery. The items allegedly infringe upon the intellectual property rights of brands such as Adidas, Nike, Puma, Reebok, and Moschino, as well as characters and franchises including LEGO, Pokémon, Marvel, Disney Stitch, and Super Mario.
These enforcement actions aim to prevent the sale of infringing merchandise and protect consumers from products that may cause confusion regarding their authenticity and origin.
