Mexican ballet folklórico groups celebrate 50th and 60th anniversaries

The Ballet Folklórico del Estado de Hidalgo marked fifty years of activity, highlighting its community‑based model of research, artistic training and cultural inclusion. Founded by Álvaro Serrano, the ensemble was selected for the first edition of Cultiva México’s Banco de Buenas Prácticas and will stage a special performance on 15 August 2026 at the Auditorio Gota de Plata in Pachuca.

The Ballet Folklórico of the Universidad de Guadalajara commemorated sixty years with the production “Corazón de México” at the Palacio de Bellas Artes. More than 80 dancers, musicians and singers presented a tour of regional Mexican traditions as part of INBAL’s “80 Movimientos” season. Coordinator Daniela Yoffe Zonana noted the company’s longevity stems from field‑based research that preserves authentic music, costumes and choreography.
