Mexican Caribbean expands air routes for 2026-2027 winter season
The Mexican Caribbean is set to significantly expand its air connectivity for the 2026-2027 winter season. Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa announced that the Cancún and Tulum international airports will introduce numerous new routes and increased frequencies to attract more tourists.
Cancún will see a surge in international flights from Canada, the United States, and Europe. Key Canadian connections include Calgary, Edmonton, Montreal, Halifax, and Windsor via airlines such as Air Canada, Air Transat, Flair, and Porter. From the U.S., Breeze will operate new routes from Tampa, Pittsburgh, and Richmond. European connectivity will be bolstered by Air France from Paris and Neos from Verona. Domestic links will also increase with flights from Acapulco and Los Cabos.
Tulum is also preparing for growth through the ‘Plan Tulum Renace,’ which includes new international connections from Canada and the U.S., alongside improved ground transportation options like the Tren Maya and ADO buses.
In Yucatán, the state is strengthening its ties to the Canadian market. WestJet and Air Canada will operate direct routes between Toronto and Mérida, while WestJet will also add a seasonal service from Calgary. These expansions aim to capitalize on North America’s significant role in the region's tourism economy.
