Mexican cellist Abner Jairo Ortiz García performs in Europe

Mexican cellist Abner Jairo Ortiz García, a member of the National Symphony Orchestra of Mexico, is performing solo recitals as part of a European tour.

In Dubrovnik, Croatia, Ortiz will perform a free concert on August 10 at the Mirror Hall of the National Library. The recital aims to introduce audiences to Mexican musical traditions through the cello in an intimate acoustic setting.

In Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ortiz is scheduled to perform a free solo recital on August 14 at the Aria mall plaza. Organized by the National and University Library of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the event serves as a cultural contribution to the memory of the burning of the state library 34 years ago. Ortiz is noted for his virtuosity and for playing a cello specifically constructed for left-handed musicians.
