Mexican cinema celebrated with special screenings in Michoacán and Morelos
To commemorate National Mexican Cinema Day, cultural institutions in Michoacán and Morelos are hosting special film programming.
In Morelia, Michoacán, the Secretaría de Cultura de Michoacán (Secum) and federal authorities will present free screenings at the Museo Casa Natal de Morelos from August 13 to 27. The schedule, held on Tuesdays and Thursdays, features feature films and short films from local filmmakers in regions such as Lázaro Cárdenas, Paracho, Cherán, and Uruapan. Notable works include the documentary ‘Hombres de sal’ by Luis Armando Sosa Gil.
In Cuernavaca, Morelos, Cine Morelos is hosting a special program from August 15 to 21 at the Centro Cultural Jardín Borda. The lineup includes documentaries, fiction, and short films exploring themes of identity, inclusion, and diversity. Featured titles include ‘Territorio Skate’ and ‘Breaking la vida’. The program also includes an inclusive screening on August 20 featuring Mexican Sign Language and audio description.
