Mexican cinema industry generates 150 billion pesos

The Mexican film industry has generated approximately 150 billion pesos, according to Claudia Curiel de Icaza, the Secretary of Culture. This growth is attributed to economic support measures for the 2024-2026 period and a comprehensive policy framework, including a 25 percent budget increase for IMCINE and a 17 percent increase for EFICINE. Additionally, the new EFICA stimulus, endowed with 400 million pesos, aims to attract investment and create jobs. A new Federal Law for Cinema and Audiovisual was also approved to strengthen production, distribution, and exhibition.

Complementing these institutional shifts, the initiative Stage México, founded by producer Arturo González Alonso, aims to bridge the gap between creative talent and the commercial industry. Stage México focuses on professionalizing the business aspects of filmmaking, such as sales and financing, through networking and expert-led panels. The organization recently concluded its Stage Global event in Madrid, addressing topics ranging from tax incentives to music copyright management in audiovisual productions.
