Acuña, Coahuila launches joint relief operation after heavy rains

Municipal authorities in Acuña, Coahuila, together with the Mejora Coahuila program, the Mexican Army and the State Police conducted a coordinated field tour of the hardest‑hit neighborhoods following intense storms that deposited up to seven inches of rain. The joint team inspected flooded streets and low‑lying colonies, identified 22 families whose homes were damaged, and began providing immediate assistance and supplies. Officials, including Mayor Emilio de Hoyos Montemayor and regional Mejora coordinator Francisco Carmona Saracho, said the operation will continue, with ongoing monitoring, distribution of aid and public warnings as more rain is forecast across Coahuila.

The authorities urged residents to stay informed, avoid crossing flooded roads and streams, and follow recommendations from civil protection, noting the risk of further inundation, landslides and electrical hazards.
