Mexican Cities Distribute Summer Food Packages and Voucher Programs to Vulnerable Families

In El Mante, Tamaulipas, the municipal government and the local DIF began handing out the “Dotación de Verano,” a summer food aid package for children enrolled in the state breakfast program. Mayor Patty Chío inaugurated the distribution at the primary school “Niños Héroes,” delivering 5,000 double‑pack kits to ensure children receive nutritious meals during school vacations.

Meanwhile, the Veracruz municipal administration launched the JEFMUN food‑voucher scheme, providing 500‑peso vouchers to 10,000 low‑income households, with a target of 20,000 families by year‑end. The vouchers can be spent on basic groceries at approved local stores, aiming to give families purchasing choice while supporting neighborhood merchants. The program excludes cash conversion and the purchase of alcohol or tobacco.
