Mexican cities launch free cultural programs to boost local activity

The municipality of San Pedro Garza García in Nuevo León inaugurated a permanent cultural initiative called “Vuelve a Centrito” on 25 July. The opening featured a free concert by Venezuelan singer Lasso, live music, artistic performances, workshops for children, food kiosks and free shuttle service, with the aim of reviving the Centrito Valle district’s commercial and social life. The program will be held every 15 days, and participating cafés, restaurants and shops will offer special promotions.

In Hermosillo, Sonora, the Bosque Urbano La Sauceda organized a weekend of free cultural and environmental activities. Highlights included a performance by Brazilian rock band Grogue, an environmental‑education talk on mammal tracking, ceramic workshops, a bonsai‑intro session, and community clean‑up efforts. The events were part of the “Domingos en el Bosque” series, promoting art, culture and conservation in the urban forest.
