Mexico implements security plans for Independence Day celebrations
Various Mexican municipalities and states are implementing security and logistical plans for the upcoming Independence Day celebrations on September 15.
In Puebla, Governor Alejandro Armenta Mier announced coordinated efforts between state, municipal, and federal forces—including the National Guard and the Secretariat of National Defense—to ensure safety during festivities in the Zócalo. The event will feature a stage in front of the Municipal Palace and large screens in the Historic Center.
Tijuana is preparing for a large-scale event at the Miguel Hidalgo roundabout, expecting approximately 10,000 attendees. Local authorities have announced road closures in the Zona Río area and will provide a live broadcast of President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo’s ceremony from Mexico City, followed by a concert by Ernesto Solano.
In Guasave, Sinaloa, authorities have deployed a unified command involving civil protection, health services, and police, with over 200 officers assigned to monitor the celebrations. Meanwhile, in San Mateo Atenco, the municipal government has established strict regulations, including a ban on the sale and consumption of alcohol in public spaces and the prohibition of gunpowder products during the holiday period.
