Efraín Juárez appointed head coach of Hungary's Győri ETO

Mexican former international Efraín Juárez, 38, has signed a contract to become the head coach of Győri ETO FC, the reigning champions of Hungary’s top division. The appointment follows Juárez’s departure from UNAM Pumas after the team finished as runners‑up in the Clausura 2026 final. He will replace the previous manager and will lead Győri ETO in the upcoming UEFA Champions League qualifying rounds, with the possibility of continuing in the Europa League or Conference League. Reports noted that Juárez had also been in talks with Maccabi Tel Aviv and Spanish side Mallorca before committing to the Hungarian club. The move marks Juárez’s first senior coaching role in Europe after previous assistant positions in Belgium and the United States and a playing career that included stints at Celtic and Zaragoza.
