Mexican Congress approves leaves for deputies Sergio Mayer and Hugo Éric Flores
The Permanent Commission of the Mexican Congress has approved indefinite leaves of absence for federal deputies Sergio Mayer Bretón and Hugo Éric Flores Cervantes.
Hugo Éric Flores Cervantes will step down starting September 1 to lead the newly recognized national political party, Partido Paz. His goal is to consolidate the party's structure ahead of the 2027 elections. During his absence, his substitute, Edith Carolina Anda González, will hold his seat.
Sergio Mayer Bretón will depart his position effective August 31. Unlike his previous leave, which was taken to participate in a reality television program, this new request is for an indefinite period and without salary. Mayer, who recently resigned from the Morena party, will be replaced by his substitute, Óscar Bernache Domínguez of the Partido del Trabajo (PT).
