Mexican court reviews auction bases for steelmaker AHMSA and miner MINOSA
The Second District Court in Commercial Bankruptcy (Juzgado Segundo de Distrito en Materia de Concursos Mercantiles) has begun analysing the bases that will regulate the auction of assets belonging to Altos Hornos de México (AHMSA) and Minera del Norte (MINOSA). The review follows a 10‑day extension granted to the syndic, which ran from 26 June to 10 July 2026, during which the final list of workers, the calculation of labor credits and the bankruptcy quota were compiled and submitted.
Judge Ruth Haggi Huerta García issued the order on 10 July, making the documents public and allowing interested parties three business days to comment. The Federal Public Defender’s Institute also appointed two legal advisers to represent all workers collectively in the proceeding. The syndic affirmed that the process will continue in compliance with the court’s resolutions and that further updates will be provided as the auction preparation advances.
