Mexican court sentences man to 55 years for femicide

A judge in the State of Mexico has sentenced Antonio Debrey Mendoza to 55 years in prison for the crime of femicide. The sentencing follows an investigation by the State of Mexico Attorney General's Office.

According to investigators, the incident occurred on March 17, 2025, in Atizapán de Zaragoza. The victim was at a commercial laundry establishment in the Lomas de San Miguel Norte neighborhood with her partner when Debrey Mendoza allegedly physically assaulted her, causing death by mechanical strangulation. The perpetrator fled the scene, leaving the body behind.
